Finding Forrester is drama film that was made in 2000 and directed by Gus Van Sant (Van Sant is also known for the mind-bending movie Psycho (1998)). Jamal Wallace (Rob Brown) is a 16-year-old who is an average student that attends high school in the Bronx. He lives in a very infamous area for crime but yet has a very good way of staying away from trouble by performing basketball and reading books. He loves writing and reading as much as he loves basketball.
In the beginning picture it shows Jamal and his friends playing basketball. They (Jamal and his friends) always talk about the man that lives in a second story apartment. They call him Window because he always stares out of the window with his binoculars to look at birds. Jamal, pressured by his friends, decides to go up and interior into the mans apartment. When Jamal breaches the window he notices the inside was very much to his liking. The inside was inundated with books and literary pieces.
When Jamal sees this he is in awe. As Jamal is caught in the moment he sees the man and steals a knife and runs out of the apartment window for quarterting his book bag. Jamal realizes this and the following day he finds his bag hanging from the window where it is then dropped. Jamal finds out that his journals that were in his bag were edited and noted. Jamal is intrigued yet confused about the situation.
To speeding the story up, Jamal begins writing to Window in order to apologize and wants to learn from him.
