'Character Analysis - Sammy in John Updike\'s A&P'

'Who is Sammy? In the presently humbug A&P, Sammy serves as the protagonist, of import character and narrator. The story is t over-the-hill from his height of view, which I believe is rattling interesting because the communicatory changes if this story is told from whizz of the other characters point of view. This story takes places in a teeny-weeny conservative company with conservative views. Sammy is a 19 yr old who industrial plant as a cashier at A&P grocery in a nonaged town. Sammy crapper be described in many modal values. He is very positive and observant of his surroundings. From the antecedent of the story Sammy is seen as somewhat immature. Sammy seems to be very in dissimilar in his commercial enterprise just now kinda taken with its customers. I can match to that somewhat. Retail can be so boring and workaday at clipping that you have to do something to help the time go by. He comments on everyone and everything. This serves as his entertainment to admit through the day.\nIn the story he quickly analyzes the girls as they come in the store. In fact, in the very number 1 sentence Sammy says in walks these three girls in nothing but bathing suits (Updike 32). It is kinda an attention grabber. Sammy finds close to mountain in town ar followers and do the same thing. However, he notices Queenie is different. He is some infatuated by her sweet panoptic soft-looking can (Updike 33). found on the way he describes the girls he seems to judge people based on appearances. He depicts everything from the food grain and patterns of their bathing suits to the different boundaries of their tan lines. Sammy describes the girls nicer in comparison to how he described the old lady and the halt lane. He goes on to call Queenie a leader. She acts different, walks different, and dresses differently than others in town. Sammy described almost people in town as sheep. They all talked and garmented the same way.
