School Spirit

Freshmen! Freshmen! Freshmen! I yelled at the top of my lungs. No depend how loud I sounded in the middle of the gym along with my classmates, the chanting of the upperclassmen overpowered our voices by saying boo. But that did non settlement us. We continued to cheer as loud as we dismiss and the sophomores tried to do the comparable scarce the most unforgettable moment is the intensity between the seniors and the juniors on the opposite position in seeing who was the loudest and who represented their class the best. It was awesome. The seniors all wore their dirty and white shirt and showed their pride which motivated all the some other classmen to do the same. Everyone was involved. For me, the seniors became the epitome (role model) of having school spirit and I could not wait to become a part of that.
Unfortunately it is not what I expected. I thought that the seniors were going to be the loudest but instead it was the juniors. The chanting and the spirit that was shown three years ago has changed. It is not the same. Not only was the rally affected by the change of spirit but the other activities were affected also.

Myself and other officers lead planned dances to raise funds for the school and at the same time give the students opportunities to participate and catch fun. But we have received little participation. Out of 1700 students, 114 bought shreds for homecoming and 80 tickets for winterball which was call off because we needed at least 100. Obviously from the amount ticket sold, the motivation to be involved in school activities has greatly decline. There has to be a reason why at least 1600 students chose to not be a part of it.
In my opinion, it starts off with the leaders. For the dance plans, one of our officers did not even penury to partake in an event that he/she planned.
