Subject: Strike in one whole of the company
Ladies & group A; Gentlemen,
This is to your attention that the gross sales staff in one of our units has been in strike since yesterday. The immediate reason for this strike is known to be the circular send by the prevalent gutter of the unit withdrawing the promise given to the sales staff. Earlier, the Chief sales Manger had promised the sales staff 3% sales link up inducement to them in a bid to motivate the staff.
You might be recalling that we had constituted a committee to find taboo the reasons for the go sales & profit margin of this unit. The committee came away with the findings that the growing mistrust between the sales staff and the top side management of the unit was the major cause for this dip in sales & profit margin. In fact, the committee pointed out that there was hardly any communication between the sales team & General Manager of the unit.
With this back ground, we recruited a new Chief Sales Manager (CSM) with independent financial powers to look after the sales activities of the unit. The CSM was given equal position with the existing General Manager of the unit and was to report this instant to the Managing Director.
The CSM made an announcement to give 3% sales linked incentive to the sales staff where as this promise was retire by the General Manager the very next day. This resulted in the declaration of strike by the Sales staff. In a bid to solve this issue, I have had series of discussions with the Managing Director of the company today.
My course of actions to solve this problem and to prevent the coming back of similar incidents in future is as follows.
