The United States Welfare system sooner had good intentions only if is it being abused today?
The address of welfare is on the rise and the number of Americans receiving some multifariousness of
government assistance is at an all time exalted and for some, it seems to be a way of life.
The need for welfare was dandy in the 1930s during the Great Depression. Millions of people
people lost their jobs and homes. Fathers were leaving their families fag in search of work
in other cities and states. Mothers were left(p) behind with their children and had to survive on
their own. The elderly were also wretched because they didnt have the money to live on and were
too grizzly to work. Before the Great Depression, community charities helped the needy and the
struggling family, but the downfall of the economy hit everone hard. The people that once helped
the abject now had the urge to achieve their own survival. They no time-consuming had the financial means
to help.
While Franklin D. Roosevelt rushed and tried to create to a greater extent jobs, he also began to back
an idea that would give aid to lamentable people and their dependent children.
In Franklin D. Roosevelts State of the Union Address, he included that he planned on creating
insurance for the elderly, federal unemployment, benefits for dependent children, and benefits for
poor single mothers with children. Welfare finally became a federal responsibility under the
Social Security toy on August 18, 1935. This act made it so that the states had to contribute
triad assistence that the federal government gave to all eligible dependendts. Over the years,
unvoiced resentment grew as the welfare system funding grew larger in federal expenditure. The
