Barbara Kingsolvers goldbrick story Rose- grayback narrative is generally about her growing up with her family and her surroundings. This story is set in a countryside area where everyone knows everyone and gab runs around quick. Every one of of the characters has a major mapping but Georgeann stands out more in the story. Although Georgeann is only ten years old, she has a mind and attitude of a get along young lady. Georgeann shows her maturity by the respect she gives Rose maverick from everyone else, defending herself from her classmates, having a caring moment with bloody shame Etta and her realizing that lying is overwhelming and the wrong thing to do.
Living in a small rural area in walnut knobs Kentucky, thither is never a day that gossip is not running game around town. Rose Johnny, a neighborhood store shop clerk is known as the freak of walnut knobs. The children of the town including Georgeann were forever told stay clear from rose Johnny. The children never met her but rehearsal has it that rose Johnny wore a mans haircut and terrorize little children.



The first measure Georgeann had an encounter with rose Johnny was when she had to run an errand to the town store. Georgeann was so excited that she had a misfortune to do something before her older sister Mary Etta. Because Mary Etta is five years older than her, Georgeann felt a sense of pride. She finally had something over her older sister. After the first time of seeing Rose-Johnny Georgeann begins to come to the store on a systematic basis and work for Rose-Johnny.
