The persona of Sylvia Plaths Mirror is, in the front stanza, an arrogant and contradictive mirror. Its statements are short and informative to convince the contri stillor of its reliability and objectivity. The persona then transforms into a lake in the second gear stanza.

The lake notices a woman looking into it, but upon doing so, she leaves as she is disgruntled by what she observes.
