Columbus County has one city Whiteville, which is surrounded by little rural townships. The county has an unemployment rate of 12% as of March 2011 (U.S. incision of prod, 2011). To improve prosperity in Columbus County the community increment plan will focus on the growth of humiliated commercees in Columbus County, which will decrease unemployment. The development plan depends on several agencies such as the small business center and Columbus county economic development commission to be successful. The agencies and groups will be discussed throughout the plan. All the data true in this community development plan will turn a profit social workers in understanding the process of planning and implementing a community development plan.

Citizens being able to find employment is a stern issue for Columbus County because the county is rural; therefore an increase in small businesses would be beneficial to the county.
