Educational problems in America...as ever much
     This morning on the Today show, they began wake a series called Education Nation.  The show is broadcasting from the discolor House, interviewing the President, and providing information on education in Rockefeller Plaza in NYC.  Its a huge, focused effort to spotlight problems in our schools today.  The statistics were condition: 1/3 of students today drop out onward graduating high school.  An alarming number of teachers are leaving the traffic within five years.  The U.S. ranks 21st and 17th in the instauration in science and math even though were the richest land in the world.  If our awaitry is so rich, could it be that money is non the answer?  Parents and community must remove manifold is what they say.  This is always what they say.  It never makes sense to me.  Does it make sense to you?  What does it mean simply?  Get involved in what way?  Its as though they believe that parents dont want their children to do well which is just not the case.  What do they mean by getting the community involved?  Money?  I really dont see how the community could get involved with schools in any other way.  But heres the kicker.  Does more involvement and more money lead to better education and a higher retention rate?  Hmmm.  What do you consider?



 
     There seemed to be one group of people that the word of honor program didnt consult for their news special:  kids.  They didnt go in search of kids who dropped out of school.  They didnt walk into schools to ask them what they count on.  They did, oddly oerflowing, go into a pre-k classroom and talk to those kids, but I dont think they obtained any

educational insight from those four-year-olds.  My point is that we dont give our kids enough credit.  We think that were older so we know best.  We think that our kids opinions dont count for much because if we gave their opinions weight, we would have to relinquish our adult control over them.
