There are 2 main scientific processes that combine to make photography possible; optics and chemical. These processes have been cognise for quite some time but it wasnt until the 1830s that they were combined and the art of photography was shitd.
It was back in 1827 when the runner ineradicable assure was created, it was created by French inventor called Joseph Nicéphore Niépce who apply a camera obscura (a darkened enclosure in which images are projected through a small aperture or lens onto a facing surface) to burn a permanent image of his estate onto a chemical-coated pewter plate. He called this technique heliography, importee sun drawing. The black-and- tweed exposure took 8 hours to complete and as time has gone on it has faded significantly, but the image is remedy slightly visible on the plate today.
It was from this technique that another one developed called daguerreotype. The difference between the 2 techniques was that as heliography took 8 hours to develop whilst daguerreotype only took 30 minutes. plane though daguerreotype was a good technique it was very costly and also you could only make 1 copy unless you used more than 1 camera.
This problem was solved however by a man called William Henry Fox Talbot who invented Calotype which now meant that an straight-out number of positive prints could now be made of every negative image; even though the quality of these images wasnt as good as that of a daguerreotype image it is still the same principles that todays photography is based on.
In 1851 Frederick Scott Archer introduced the Collodion process which had an exposure time of only a few seconds and was much cheaper then many conventional methods to create so began a new era for photography.
