Chicano Studies Professor: 1035-1200pm T/TH Braceros Biography Assignment The Mexican migrant role player has been the ground workplace for the development of the American agricultural industry. The Bracero program has played an important role in Mexican-American history. The program lasted twenty-two years, from July 1942 to December 1964. I will be discussing the Braceros from two sources, a primary source which will be from the information I gathered from my Grandfather Isidro Padilla, who was a Bracero from 1957 until 1959 and a secondary source coming from the book Mexicanos by Manuel G. Gonzales. Finally, I will give my own opinion and thoughts of the program. Reading somewhat the Bracero program in the book Mexicanos by Manuel G. Gonzales was very kindle and gave me a different view of the Braceros. The book mentioned that the Bracero program was other major outcome of World War II. Mexican nationals were recruited by the U. S. government on a temporary basis to work in the confederationwestern United States. The reason for this was because of the huge manpower shortage created by the war.
