Philadelphia (Jonathan Demme, 1993)- AIDS

This can be seen in the film Philadelphia as the concomitant that the young policeyer who develops acquired immune deficiency syndrome is jolly is just as off-putting to his colleagues as the fact that he has this deadly disease. Many of his colleagues do fear that perception does not know all there is to know about the transmission of the disease and so fear that they could get it through and through casual contact, but this position becomes what it has become in the objective world--increasingly difficult to justify in the light of scientific state to the contrary.

Andrew Beckett is a lawyer on the fast track in his Philadelphia law home in spite of the fact that he is gay, whateverthing he does not bandy about. He is the darling of the taper of the firm and is given all the toughest qualitys until it is discovered that he has support, and at that point he is terminated with several feeble excuses. It appears that the firm is afraid of the ramifications of his disease and of how that disease might make the law firm look to future clients. Beckett is devastated, but over sentence he develops evidence and sets out to sue the firm for unconventional termination, gaining the support of a black lawyer named Joe moth miller, the only lawyer he can find who will represent him.
